John Carter

John Carter has been involved in youth baseball coaching and instructions for the past 25 years.  John’s baseball experience comes from playing throughout his childhood and also his 8 years in professional baseball; playing with the Mets, the Pirates, and the Cleveland Indians.

Carter, 52, has been able to instruct several Major League players, such as Steve Karsay, Bradley Goldberg, Brian Anderson, Ryan Feierabend, Brandon Hynick, and Ryan Dennick.  His successes in coaching have led to over 60 of his players being recruited to play college baseball.

After playing professional baseball, John moved to the front office of the Cleveland Indians, serving as Manager of Community Relations for seven years.   As Manager of Community Relations, John dealt closely with not only the Cleveland community but also with the players themselves.  John has played a key role in youth baseball in Cleveland, organizing the Hardball Classic, which is held at Progressive Field, the MLB  Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) East Regional tournament, and played a key role in the 2019 Major League Baseball All-Star Game pregame introductions representing MasterCard starting lineups held in Cleveland, Ohio.

John currently serves as President of the Cleveland Baseball Federation.  He joined them in October of 2007.  Cleveland Baseball Federation is one of the oldest baseball organizations in Cleveland.  Their mission is to keep children off the streets and in the parks.  John’s vision, along with CBF is to provide kids the opportunity to play the game with no limits.

Along with John’s responsibilities at the Cleveland Baseball Federation, he served as Director of Athletics for Fairview Park City Schools, Oberlin City Schools, and Benedictine High School for the past 14 years. As an education-based athletic leader, he is an active member of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA), Executive Board Member of the Northeast Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NEOIAAA) and Northeast District Athletic Board (NEDAB)-Ethnic Minority Representative.

John resides in North Ridgeville with his wife Amy and their children, Mary Grace, Jake, and Ellie.
